Blue Water Star Sailing has been founded in February 2006 by Eva & Dr. Gerd Bernhard Zimmermann. The German couple is the owner of the 46 ft. sailing yacht DADDELDU. In July 2000 they left their homeport Flushing (Vlissingen) in the Netherlands to circumnavigate the world. DADDELDU is their “floating home” since then and the couple’s aim during their six years journey was to discover new sailing areas and not to go with the crowd.
They ventured the Cape Verde Islands in the Atlantic, the San Blas Islands in the Caribbean, the Galapagos Islands, Easter Island, Chile and many exotic places in the Pacific. Some kids on the Solomon Islands had never seen a sailing yacht before. They swapped coffee, sugar, sanding paper or rice for lobster and cooked with the locals on the beach learning to enjoy eating just with their fingers and sleeping in a hammock.
They made friendships all over the world and sometimes shed quite a few tears when leaving an anchorage and friends. Already being on their way back to Europe, fate – or current and wind – brought them to the island group of Langkawi on the northwest coast of Malaysia where they fell in love with its unique beauty. They were looking for a way to settle down there when they realized the advantages of this part of Asia compared to Europe or anywhere else on this planet. Finally they set up a company for exclusive private yacht charter in Langkawi and decided to stay – if not forever – then at least for a couple of years.
Once they had set up the company according to Malaysian law, they where approached by other yacht owners asking them to help them to market their vessels. By now, July 2007, Eva and Gerd with their company Blue Water Star Sailing, have a fleet of 7 boats and are successfully working for the leading hotels of the island. As their aim is to only provide exclusive private yacht charter, they endeavour to deliver an unforgettable and unique experience for their guests while cruising the waters of Langkawi and the Andaman Sea.
