Isn’t it a wonderful feeling when our time and hard work pays off?

I spend a lot of time writing for Tripadvisor (www.tripadvisor.com), especially in the Forum, and I’ve had a number of people contact me privately after reading them. In fact, I’ve even held a couple of tours with some of them on chartered yachts. It is indeed a great way to get to know other people and get the Blue Water Star Sailing (BWSS) network to become stronger. Three ladies that had contacted me via Tripadvisor have become my friends. They are Jill and Claire from England, and Anne from Norway. We had such a terrific time together, and they had independently written reviews about the tours BWSS conducted (Thank you, ladies!).

There has been fantastic feedback from other readers on Tripadvisor, too. I’ve had quite a number of readers who’ve contacted me and were interested for a sharing cruise with other readers. And thanks to a few plans here and there, I’ve managed to get a few of them together here in Langkawi. Our guests were Cora and Lothar (with his two daughters) from Germany, Alisen and Peter from Denmark, and Raimundo and his boyfriend Manuel from London. The crew consisted of Skip, Thalie, Shan and I.

Initially, I’d planned for DAMAI INDAH to take the group around the islands, but unfortunately she had a technical problem with her Gearbox. So, I opted for another boat that could handle the group. Skip is an Australian owner of the sailing yacht ORION, and with his charming French girlfriend Thalie, they were ready to take over this shared cruise. Our guests arrived at 2pm at the Royal Langkawi Yacht Club (RLYC). We introduced ourselves to each other and had a great atmosphere right from the start. After a short and entertaining safety advice by Captain Skip, we took sail to the stunning and beautiful islands behind the yacht club in the direction of North. Luckily, the wind was excellent so we could set the Genua, the dark blue front sail.

After about 2 hours, we were in between two beautiful islands and decided to drop the anchor. ORION is very well equipped for all sorts of charter and even has two kayaks on board. Some of us simply jumped into the ocean for a nice refreshing swim and some others took turns on the kayak. Shan h
as developed to become a great chef, and once all of us were back on the yacht he served us a superb dinner which included prawns, fish, chicken, veggies and much more. The chilled Sauvignon Blanc and Carlsberg beer helped to wash down all the delicious fare we had – and of course, a welcomed bonus after a delightful time in the waters of the Andaman Sea.

A short but strong thunderstorm engulfed us for a spell but it did not disturb us in the slightest. We came back from a spectacular sunset to the Kuah bay. We had a great time together, and parted ways in good mood and cheer. I hope we’d keep in touch, and of course, for them to return to Langkawi someday soon.

Hi Eva

Hope you are well. I will try and get some photos over at the weekend although it looks like you have some good ones already!!

I have tried making a posting, but it doesn’t work – can you add it on for me please?

Having done many boat trips on previous holidays, nothing was more enjoyable than this one!! This was so much more personal, better value for money and unique we were so glad we had chosen to go on this one!

Eva was such a hospitable person, that from the minute that we made contact with her, nothing was too much trouble.

The boat was fantastic, and the crew were so hospitable, and catered to our every need. A cold beer was handed to us as soon as we got on board which put us in the mood for what was going to be an enjoyable day! The food was fresh, good quality and all home made, it was delicious!

Because there were only 8 of us on this cruise it felt very personal. We all had chance to get to know each other, which made it so much more personable than any other cruise we have been on. The fact that Eva took time to get to know us, as well as sharing her stories made it far more enjoyable, it wass like we had knwn each other far longer than just a day!

Langkawi is such a beautiful place, this was by far the best way to see the islands of Langkawi, and to be able to just moor up and swim in the sea in total tranquility, was just perfect!

We enjoyed our time with Eva and everyone else, we will keep the memories in our minds forever, and if there is a ever day when things are getting us down,we will look at the photos and remember the happy memories and wish we were sailing round the islands with Eva!
