CLASSIC SCHOONER RAJA LAUT
What is RAJA LAUT?
RAJA LAUT is a custom-built schooner designed for private charters and luxury expeditions in tropical waters. Partly inspired by Rajah Brooke's schooner The Royalist, a 19th Century gentleman's yacht, RAJA LAUT is a reproduction of the traditional western schooner. With her classic lines and fine design she would be equally at home amongst the Baltic traders of northern Europe or the schooners of Canada/United States, and follows in the wake of similar vessels that undertook journeys of exploration to Asia in past centuries.
Where does the name come from?
The name "RAJA LAUT", Malay for 'King of the Seas', is in homage to the Malay Archipelago - the history, the people, the cultures. "Raja", itself a derivation of the Hindustani for king, is an honorific title used in ancient times from Srivijaya to Malacca, Makassar to Ambon.
Why the Malay Archipelago?
Within Asia, strategically located between East and West, with it's geography of thousands of islands and a rich bounty in spices, the Malay Archipelago was a major seafaring region with flourishing entrepots, cities and kingdoms, attracting traders from all over the world.
Besides still being one of the busiest commercial shipping areas of the world more and more travelers feel attracted by the outstanding and overwhelming beauty of the countless islands, romantic passages and secluded anchorages that hardly find their equal anywhere else. Cruising in this area aboard the charming schooner RAJA LAUT is an experience for a lifetime, whether it’s just for a Sunset Dinner Cruise in the Langkawi archipelago or a whole week or more in the Andaman Sea.
RAJA LAUT offers luxurious, comfortable accommodation for up to 10 guests for overnight cruises and ample space and a charming ambience for groups of up to 70 guests, whether it is a wedding party, a birthday anniversary or a company event.
The vessel is equipped for extensive diving excursions with 8 complete diving sets, compressor and an experienced dive master.
